THE IMPORTANCE OF SERVICING By spending a small amount on an annual or bi-annual basis you are limiting the risk of having to fund the repair of a major fault. It is a fact that gas leaks naturally from all air conditioning systems at 10 - 15% per annum. If this is left untreated, fuel economy is affected when the system is run. The compressor (which uses fuel) has to work harder to generate the correct temperatures when the gas level is low. This costs you money as it uses more fuel. In addition, the lower the gas level, the greater the likelihood of component failure. If your car air conditioning system is not serviced on a regular basis it can have a detrimental effect if you have allergies. When your car air conditioning is working properly it can help allergies and help deal with everyday pollution. Read on for more information. Allergies With many people suffering from hay fever and other allergies, it is perhaps not surprising that more and more people are discovering the value of air conditioning. Air conditioning allows for a comfortable and controlled driving environment. The removal of pollen particles is just one of the significant benefits enjoyed by drivers of air conditioned vehicles. Most people will be aware that air conditioning cools the air entering the driving compartment. On hot summer days this means that you arrive at your journey's end as cool, calm and collected as is possible! In actual fact the benefits of air conditioning certainly go beyond this. In fact air conditioning does three things and it is worth keeping this in mind at all times throughout the year. 1. It cools the air 2. It dries the air 3. It filters the air We use Sanitizer LOVAIR AUTO - a professional ozone generator of high capacity (100 mg/h) which, thanks to the ozone's strong oxidising power, kills bacteria, moulds and mites and disolves all kinds of smells. It's perfect to sanitize: • vehicle's air conditioning and ventilation systems • driver & passenger compartments and driver's cabins • campers and caravans • train carriages • boats It is hard to explain things accurately and keep them simple.... It is best to view the drying and filtering process as useful 'side effects' of the cooling process. Firstly, the air to be cooled passes through a pollen filter. As the air is cooled in the air conditioning system it is no longer able to carry as much moisture. This condenses in small droplets on the very cold fins inside the evaporator box. The principle is the same as the one which causes bathroom windows to mist up. Even if the air is subsequently heated it enters the driving compartment much drier. Any pollen particles or other allergens which were still carried in the air will stick to the wet fins and so be prevented from entering the driving compartment. The moisture, and the allergens, then simply drop away on to the road surface. Air conditioning allows you to travel in your own 'clean air' environment. Pollution With congestion on the increase and incidence of 'road rage' well-documented it is perhaps not surprising that more and more people are discovering the value of air conditioning. Air conditioning allows for a comfortable and controlled driving environment. Let Auto Aircon Direct help you maintain and get the best out of your car air conditioning system with a regular service at a time and place to suit you. Call today to book 0759 000 5722 - or click on your local area to arrange an appointment What a Service Involves Initial system testing - Vent temperatures and gauge pressures are checked against recommended levels. A refrigerant identifier is used at this stage to verify system content. Recovery of system refrigerant - This is recovered and weighed Checking of system and related components - This includes drive belts, pipes and hoses, evaporator drain tube, pollen filter, condenser and electrics. Check heater and control flap operations Replace compressor oil level and replace drier if necessary. (Bi annual service only) System evacuation - A vacuum is applied to remove moisture and air which can damage the system. Charging - Recommended gas and oil charges are added following thorough leak checking. |
